Well...

I have not posted in a while for some reason I thought I had just posted but when I looked at my blog it has been over a month. I am not sure anyone looks at this anymore because I hardly post. In 8 days we will be going to the Michale W. Smith Christmas concert which will be a lot of fun. The concert was awesome last year and I am surprised that he is coming to Edmonton again. Michelle home in 48 days so she is almost half way finished her time in Peru. She still has not sent any pictures of Peru over the Internet because she cannot download anything onto the computer that she is using. I cannot believe Christmas is in 16 days I still have to finish shopping and we have not set up our Christmas Tree or put up any decorations which is very strange for our family since we usually put it up right after my Mom's birthday. This year has passed so quickly and I cannot believe that it is Christmas time again.

1) I cannot believe that Michelle leaves for Peru in only 4 days!!!

2) I cannot wait for my holidays in November but I am still not sure what I should do!

3) Its raining right now that will mean the roads will be icy tomorrow :-(

Last week Digger, slipped peacefully away. This is sad for all of us, as we all loved him, and he had become a member of our family but he was in such pain that he could no longer enjoy life. We will all miss him.

Craziness

Well the building that I Spoke about in my last past has a crazy developer. I had tried to reach him for a week but he would not answer his phone. Then on Wednesday I got a call from him. I am in Edmonton right now and am leaving to Los Vegas where I live later today so he has some documents that we will need to manage the building. That was all good until he told me that he could not meet me at my work but offered to meet us at the Sawmill Downtown. So when I told Nancy about this she decided it was best for Phil and I to go as we have no clue who this is and he sounded like creeper. So we went to the sawmill at noon waited 45 minutes for him to show and he no showed. After we went back to work he called me and asked where I was and I told him that he had to meet me at the office.

Around 3pm he finally showed up at the office and was acting very strange. The financial records that he gave us were a bunch of numbers on a scrap piece of paper and all he gave us were bills that had to be paid. He then said that he forgot something in his car and that it was a large item that he needed my help to get it out of the car. So I went to his car because it was in plain view from the office window and he proceeded to give me an envelope with cash in it. I refused to receive the money from him because you are never sure where the cash came from. He then got all annoyed that I refused his cash and said that when he was a poor Property Manager he would have never refused $500.00 cash when someone wanted to give it to him. I told him that I was not him and left the envelope on the back seat of his car and walked away.

The next day we got an invitation from him for our entire office to out for lunch on his tab at his restaurant downtown. He said that this was because I never accepted his gift. Right now we are all debating whether we will accept the invitation or not.

sometimes you wonder about developers

Lately the newest craze for condos in Edmonton are conversions. This month we have been have gained 17 properties and they are all converted appartments which is pretty sad because the rental rate in Edmonton is 0.2% and each conversion means that there are even fewer rental units in the area.

Today I gained a property and it is a weird one. The blueprints say that there are 19 units and but the developer says there is only 18 units. The weird thing is when you go into the the appartment there is 19 units but one is an illegal unit so no one is living there. I am not sure why its illegal but they said something about the number of units to lot sized it is illegal for a condo to be 19 units but it is alright if the property was a rental and then they would be allowed to have the extra unit. It makes no sense to me but oh well I just manage it.

I am wanting to change my blog template again but there are so many choices on blogskins that I cannot decide right now. I am waiting for a Board meeting to begin and so I am twiddling my thumbs waiting around the office because there is not enough time to go home.

The renovations from our flood are almost complete and as I promised Alison I will try and post pictures when it has been completed and we can find the attachment to load the pictures onto the computer. As it is it is very hard to find anything right now because all our belongings from our basement and main floor are in our back room of our basement. (Unless we absolutly needed it.) It has almost been 5 months since it happened so it will be exciting to finish.

well...

I have been working at my new job for 3 weeks and so far I am enjoying it. I have my owne office and I seem like I am doing half the amount of work and am not so stressed out.

We went to Surrey, BC for Ryan and Debs wedding and It was tons of fun. Currently I do not have a computer hooked up to the internet at my house so I cannot show you any pictures from the trip.

On another note they are almost done fixing up our house. After taking a month to do a less then one week job they are going to put the carpets and paint the walls next week and it will be nice to have our house back in order.

Tomorrow...

Tomorrow I start my first day at my new position which is very exciting. It is also the beginning of the month so I will be so busy. I will get my own office and my own direct line so that people can call me. I cannot wait it will be extremely exciting. I also rented out the house in Mill woods finally after several weeks of trying and the people are moving in tonight so after tonight I hopefully will not have to go there for a long, long time :).

Well got to go I have to get my work area ready for the new girl that is starting my position tomorrow.

Promotion

Today my boss came in and gave me a promotion at work although it is less then what I am going right now I am excited. So instead of working in the front with all the people that come into work I am working behind the scene helping them solve all there issues. This means I will have to work more evenings but not as many as Lynn because I am still managing the rental properties as well as some condo's. I am excited about this prospect. This also means I will not have to answer the phone as often :).

Two weeks from today is our road trip to BC which will be a lot of fun for Ryan and Debs wedding. I am now regretting that we are going to be in such a rush there and back that we are not able to enjoy it more.

Tim and I are trying to plan a savenger hunt/ car ralley (we are not sure what we are calling it yet) and are currently thinking about ideas to make it more fun and better then last years. Stay tune for more details about when and where it will be.

In an hour and a half I am finishing my final exam for my accounting course and well I am so excited to be finished for the summer that I do not want to study :( Next week I will have the evening off all week and it will be the first one in 4 months I cannot wait. waiting...

I have been waiting for a couple of hours for some reports to print and it has only printed 5 pages. I am not sure what is wrong with the printer but lately it has been extremely slow and suggestions.

Lately it seems like I never have time to blog on my own blog I look at other peoples blogs but I have been neglecting my blog since I have gotten facebook. I have been very busy with work and school and all and well I guess I am just making excuses.

I have offically been blogging for over a year. It seems like it was longer then that since I began bloging because of everything that has happened this past year.

On another note I am going to Vancouver for Ryan and Deb's wedding in June which will be a lot of fun because I am flying and I have never flown in a plane before.

Flood

Last weekend when I got home from our trip to Grande Prairie we realized that one of our hot water pipes was leaking. Since then we have repaired that leak and then well another leak leaks and then another etc. (you get the idea) So we called the insurance company because there was a lot of damage and well lets say there was more damage then we thought there was going to be. They have torn out our wall in our living room and now today they are tearing out our fireplace and the walls in our basement. They tore out our bathroom floor and currently our house looks like a disaster zone and they are not finished yet. So we have been really busy and now we do not have a computer set up at my house so I have not been able to post in a while. Well I have to go back to work. TTYL

Fire

This past week we have had three fires and two of them are in the same building. One the person burnt her toast which resulted in the the fire alarm going off. So if this happened to you would you at least tell someone. BUT NO she went off to work like nothing happened. The second was in the same building when a guy went into the public washroom and was doing drugs and lit himself on fire and ran through the building on fire. The last one was a man who wanted to make supper and fell asleep and all of a sudden there was a fire and they could not wake him up they had to break down the door it was a not lot of fun. But anyways got to get back to work TTYL

cops and mix-ups

Well yesterday Yvonne from my work did not show up AGAIN and then left a quick message on the phone 2 hours after she was supposed to work that she quit to which we said "Good Ridance." The problem is that we provided a house for her to live in (which she was supposed to pay us rent for but did not) and keys and a cell phone. These keys are special keys as in master keys to our buildings that she has not yet returned so we assume that she has stolen them since she will not answer her calls and when the resident manager of the appartment building saw her yesterday (before he knew about this) she told him he was moving tomorrow to Vancouver. So we are once again short staffed and busy as always. We are hoping to find someone by the end of this week to replace her.

Yesterday evening I was supposed to start classes at NAIT. So I walked in late as usual and everyone was staring at me. So I am in class for around a half hour when I realize that I am in the wrong class. I look at my schedule and it says I am supposed to be there and I was all confused and all. So I go downstairs where the list of classes is and mine was cancelled due to low enrollment and they switched me into another class. So tonight when I go to class I will make sure that I am early enough to check the schedule before I go to class :)

On a completely different note my Grandpa seems to be getting physically better this week but now the doctors are concerned that he has some brain damage because he cannot remember anything. Yesterday they placed him in another room with other people that seem to have memory lapse like him.

Last Night

Well I got to work this morning and the was informed that there was a drive by shooting right by our office. I new that I was working in a area that it is not recommended that you travel after dark but I did think that the violence was quite that bad around here.

Prayer request

On Tuesday my Grandpa went into the hospital and it is not looking that great. He had the flu for the last 3 weeks and now the doctors are saying that he was so under nourished because of it that they have admitted him into the hospital so they can inject him with sodium and fluids to try and get his heart rate back up.

My Grandma finally went home (well to my aunts house) last Tuesday. She is still very week from the pneumonia and since she only has 20% of one lung left to breathe with she is now on constant oxygen. The doctors are now only giving her weeks to live because the cancer is spreading rapidly.
Well on a more positive note Rebecca finally got her drivers license and now that she bought my old car she finally does not have to rely on us for a ride :) and which also means that she can get a new job away from my other sisters.
