Well I have been really busy since our trip to northern California. I cannot believe how much work stacks up in one week. Our trip was awesome I will try and outline the highlights on our trip:-)
The first night we drove to Hinton because my Mom had to work that day so we had to start a little bit late. The second day we went to Lynden Washington. When we got to Kelowna Shauna was sure that we were already there.
We then went to Seattle to go shopping in Pike Place Market where we accidentally took a 1 hour long detour through Seattle when we accidentally took the wrong exist. :-)
We drove to the Oregon Sand Dunes where we camped over night near the ocean. Where we camped was directly in the sand dunes and it was freezing cold so we enjoyed a chilly evening in our tent.
The next day we went to Crescent City California. Where we saw the majestic Redwoods. It was very Eire driving through the forest because the forest was silent. We also went to Ocean World where we petted sharks :-)
From there we drove to Medford Oregon and then the next day we decided to take a short cut to Winnemucca, Nevada. The first part of the trip we drove on a windy road with steep cliffs. And then we entered the desert. We ended up driving for hours without seeing any vehicles or houses. After 3 hours of nothing we ended up at a gas station in hick ville, Nevada where they only accepted cash and there were people sitting under a sprinkler drinking beer. It was very creepy but we had to fill up with gas. We then drove for 3 more hours down a perfectly strait road and we finally arrived in Winnemucca.
We then travelled through the desert from Winnemucca to Salt Lake City. When we arrived at the Utah Boarder we experienced a sudden change in scenery when we reached the salt flats. We tried to go swimming in the Great Salt Lake since we were unable to swim in the ocean since it was cold when we were at the ocean (only 14 degrees Celsius) but we soon realized that was not the best idea since There were dead birds all over the beach and you almost puked from the stench of the lake.
The next day we spent the morning the Temple Square in Salt Lake City and then started on our way home. Since it was the 3rd of July we could not find a place to stay in Idaho Falls and ended up travelling to Butte Montana where we watched the 4th of July Fireworks from our Hotel Room.
The next day we enjoyed the 4th of July parade and then headed back to Alberta. When we finally entered Alberta Shauna declared that she will never go back to the states again or take a road trip that is that long.
